Summer runners just look away now.  This is a proper winter fell race where the conditions could vary from a lovely clear winters day to a howling wind with sleet and snow.  To take this on we highly recommend that you have good fell running experience and that you can handle yourself in cold weather.  In previous years the weather was pretty kind with single figures at the cafe area and minus degress on the summit.

The route takes a direct path up to the summit of the magnificent Hedgehope, the second highest summit in the Cheviots and offering fantastic 360 degree views.  On the way you’ll pass the rugged Cunyan Crags, fight through the bogs of Dunmoor and finally climb the rocks near the top to reach the summit.  To finish things off you may well be dumped into the tropical Breamish river if it is not in spate.  All just to clean your shoes of course.

You can make an optional donation to North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team when entering.
