Fling Training Weekend 1:  24th-26th November 2017

We are organising 3 training weekends leading up to the event.

Over the last 4 years the training weekends have proved very enjoyable and beneficial to a lot of runners (especially those just coming into the sport).  They are informal and fun and are great for runners to come together and relax, get to know each other, talk about running, learn about running and the Highland Fling, and of course do a bit of running.

All weekends are roughly the format although the long group recce run varies.

Places limited to 40 runners per weekend.

Location: By The Way Hostel & Campsite, Lower Station Road, Tyndrum FK20 8RY.

TRAINING WEEKEND 1 INFORMATION:

FRIDAY AFTERNOON/EVENING
Arrive at By The Way Hostel in Tyndrum, relax, chat, maybe go on one of the headtorch runs and get good night’s sleep. The Real Food Cafe in Tyndrum sells fab fish & chips & other great food and is open till c. 8.30pm on Friday (last orders 8pm). There is veggie stew and cous cous available to anyone who wants it at c. 9pm.

SATURDAY DAYTIME
Everyone organises their own breakfast, then all go on group recce run. November's route is to run out-and-back from Tyndrum south along the final part of the Fling route.  Runners can turn round at any point and head back to Tyndrum, therefore, the route is suitable for speeds and fitness levels.

Back to By The Way for some post-run homemade soup.

SATURDAY EVENING
Saturday 5.00-5.30pm: meet in hostel for aperitifs and talks by guest speakers followed by a Q&A session.
7.30pm: Group dinner in hostel followed by chat, fun and relaxation. Please bring any drinks you fancy with you.

SUNDAY AM
A wee recovery run (or further) and a running-related workshop.

Vacate the Hostel at noon and go for lunch, if you fancy it, at the Real Food Cafe in Tyndrum.

OTHER INFORMATION
There will be short sports massage/phyiso appointments available throughout the weekend.

We also hope to have test models from sponsors for you to try out.
