THE MUST DO SUMMER SEASON CYCLOSPORTIVE EVENT

ABOUT THE EVENT

The Burgess Hill Rumble Cyclosportive is the one of the most popular cyclosportives in the Southeast.  The event was first run in 2007 and has 4 routes to choose from.

There is already over 370 riders entered before we've even advertised the event.

Don't miss out on this great cycling challenge which has been successfully run now to great applause for many years.  This really is the event not to be missed and an excellent event to test your early season fitness with notable hills on all the 3 routes.  All four courses travel over the wonderful country side of Ashdown Forest with the longerst route travelling into Kent and Surrey.

The longest route has now been renamed as the Beast Route. At 93 miles it has 7388 feet of climbimg over over the iconic climbs of the area, most notably, Pillow Mounds hill, Kidds Hill, Groombridge Hill, Yorks Hill, Toys Hill, and the infamous short but steep Cob Lane Hill.

An extremely popular event it is advisable to enter early to avoid miss out.

The Routes are:-

THE BEAST Route at 93 miles

The Beast Route is the hardest and longest of the four rides on the Burgess Hill Rumble Cyclosportive. An excellent event to test your fitness levels to destruction when you should be at your fittest.  The course is hard and could quite easy be regarded as the hardest cyclosortive route in the Southeast of the UK.

With a distance of 93 miles (149km) and 7388 feet of climbing the route will test riders climbing ability and endurance. There are five feed stations on this ride to help riders around the course which has many hills.

THIS ROUTE SHOULD ONLY BE ATTEMPTED BY THE STRONGEST OF CYCLOSPORTIVE RIDERS

THE CLASSIC Route at 80 miles

The Burgess Hill Rumble Cyclosportive Classic route ride follows the Beast route but takes a detour to avoid Yorks Hill and Toys Hill. A sporting course at 80 miles with 6188 feet of climbing  that will challenge your fitness and determination.

This route is achievable for most club experience cyclists, but needs work as it passes through some tough terrain and some tough climbs such as Pillow Mounds Hill and Kidds Hill which is know locally amongst the cycling fraternity as "The Wall". Then there is  infamous short but steep Cob Lane Hill as well to sap the energy from your legs. With the scenic rolling roads of Ashdown Forest we feel sure you'll enjoy this ride, although we recommend you save some leg strength for Cob Lane.

THE CHALLENGE Route at 63 miles

The Challenge route ride at 63 miles. although short in miles is still a good test for beginners and those who are coming back to full fitness.

The Challenge route avoids the major climbs of the two other longer routes. It has less of the strength sapping pain inducing gradients abundant on the longer routes, but this is not to say that the Challenge route hasn't got a few hills to test your ability. The route has four main climbs to test the rider climbing ability they are :-

  1. Pillow Mounds Hill
  2. Kidds Hill
  3. Cob Lane Hill (walking is not an option you're a cyclist :-) )
  4. Ardingly Reservoir Hill

THE TOUR Route at 44 miles

So the Tour route is the shortest route on the Burgess Hill Rumble Cyclosportive, but it is still a tough ride and any beginner thinking of having a go should have done a few log rides to be ready for this route.

It's an ideal route for those that haven't got the endurance just yet to do the longer routes.

All riders will receive maps and route details at the start and all routes will be heavily marked with directional arrows so you don't have to use those maps.
