Details:
Time to let your hair down, go a little crazy, dress up if you wish.
On arrival at the jetty you will receive, a numbered band (this must be handed in on leaving the water), bracelets / glow sticks, these can be attached to tow floats or worn.
A head torch is compulsory, the path to the jetty is dark, whilst there will be some lights. If you have a tow float that you can put a light or glow stick inside to luminate, that works too. As long as you are visible on the water, your head torch doesn’t need to be on whilst swimming.
The kayak support team will be lit up, the circuit will be inside zoned area, approx. 250m, or if you prefer you can stay by the jetty.
No head torch no swim
Happy Swimming, Annie
The Jetty:
Leave any belongings on this jetty, towel, shoes, robe etc. There are storage boxes for belongings if it’s raining and hooks on fence or robe/coats.
Here there will be a member of staff to greet you, they will take your name and issue any instructions need for your Tow floats are available to borrow here.
Wetsuits can be hired but only by prior request at a cost £10. They are not kept on site.
This jetty is not big enough to accommodate, everyone changing here we don’t mind the removal of wet kit but not fully getting dressed.
During the summer months it is possible to complete a range of badges, my first swim, my first lap. In the winter we do I swam through the winter badge.
During your swim if you do get into difficulties lie on your back, raise your arm and shout for help, one of the safety kayakers will come to you, alternative use your tow float for support, someone will come to your assistance.
During the summer months we put out buoys so that circuits can be swum, each circuit is roughly 400m, 4 circuits is a mile. On the far side of the lake you will see some blue buoys do not swim between the blue buoys and the shore these note shallow ground for fishing, you could get caught in line.
Wetsuits are optional, Tow floats are Compulsory, we recommend bright coloured hats to aid visibility or bobble hats in the winter.
