The Pennine 500 event is a self supported bikepacking adventure through the Pennines, a range of hills and passes along the backbone of the north of England. The event runs over 5 days.
The 508km circular route takes you along a chain of hills from Hebden Bridge in the Calder Valley to Hadrian's Wall in Northumberland, over the Bowland Fells and up to High Cup Nick, past Greg’s Hut and downhill from Tan Hill Inn, along the River Swale and through Haworth. It has 9,830 metres of climbing with 60% of the route paved and 40% unpaved.

THE EVENT OFFERS:
Event Hub - Register from 5-8pm on Friday 28th May or from 6am on the Saturday 29th May at Mytholmroyd Community Centre (MYCC) in the Calder Valley, West Yorkshire
Grand Depart - 8am
GPX file - The field tested gpx will be sent to your email address in the week leading up to the event
GPS tracker - Hire of a mandatory tracker included in the entry fee. Tracker and 'dot watching' service provided by Follow My Challenge. Your tracker can be collected on Friday 5-8pm from the event room or Saturday morning. £30 deposit required and refunded upon return of the tracker.
Event hub facilitates - The Community Centre has excellent male / female toilets, changing rooms and showers for a post ride clean up
Event Guide - A list of places to access food, water and shelter on the route with km markers
Bag Drop - Max of 30 litre bag can be stored at MYCC
Categories - Riders can enter any one of four categories: Female, Male, Non-binary, Pairs
Cloth Badge - All riders receive a Pennine 500 embroidered cloth badge made in Leeds
WhatsApp Group - Keep in touch with Pennine 500 riders and share ideas, news and ask questions about bikepacking the route via the WhatsApp group
Parking - Your car / van / motor home can be parked at Mytholmroyd Community Centre (MYCC) for the duration of the event with the parking fees covered by your entry from Friday 28th May till Wednesday 2nd June (5 days). Its fine to sleep in your van / motor home outside the MYCC prior to, and at the end, of the event.
Train - The start line at MYCC is a few minutes from Mytholmroyd train station on the main line between Leeds - Manchester.
Patrons - Receive a printed A5 size magazine with detailed profiles of four sections of the route, insight into landscape features along the route and stories from the trail. The four sections of the route are:
(i) Salt Road across Bowland Fell
(ii) Green Road across Asby Scar
(iii) Moorland singletrack to High Cup
(iv) Curracks on Cross Fell

TICKETS
£85 Rider - Includes hire of mandatory GPS tracker, Route Guide and embroidered cloth badge.
£95 Patrons - In addition to the GPS tracker, Patrons will be sent a printed zine titled Pennine 500 with a detailed look at four sections of the route. Patrons also receive a bike sticker sent out with the zine.
£30 deposit required for the tracker and fully refunded upon return of the tracker at the finish line.
