Bamford Carnival Fell Race is a classic Peak District fell race, going up, around and down Win Hill. We’ve lucked out massively with the weather in recent years and hopefully this year will be the same…although now I've said that it'll inevitably rain...
The race sets out from Bamford Recreation Ground, with a fast/flat start, which slows the second you hit the Thornhill Road, whereupon it begins to go uphill. You’re soon on footpaths, trending up towards the summit of Win Hill. Instead of going to the trig, you contour round, before descending in the direction of Hope. At this point, you make a well marshalled switchback back towards Bamford (we don't want anyone ending up in Hope!!), which has the good fortune of being downhill. As you get closer to the Rec - and the finish - it begins to flatten out once-again. Dig deep, because the end - as well as tea, coffee, pizza and beer - are almost in sight.
The race is well marked, well marshalled, and suitable for novice fell runners and experienced racers.

Elevation: 305m (1001 feet)

Pizza will be available from the Sunshine Pizza Oven.
Tea, coffee, and cake will be available courtesy of the Bamford Preschool.
All proceeds go towards Bamford Primary School, Bamford Preschool, Bamford Recreation Ground and Mountain Rescue.
Free parking available at Bamford Recreation Ground.
Entries may or may not be available on the day and if they are, will be in limited supply - and charged at £10. Pre-entry is highly recommended in order to avoid disappointment.
The race is licensed by the FRA under UKA Rules.
