2026 UK Athletics Senior and U20 Uphill Only Trials for European Off-Road Running Championships
Course Details
- Senior 8.6km and 945m of ascent.
The event will take place on Skiddaw, Cumbria, starting in Fitz Park. The route will start within the park grounds, follow a marked track through the park to Spooney Green Lane to the summit of Latrigg. From here there will be a short descent to the Latrigg carpark where you will then follow the main tourist path to the summit on Skiddaw.
The courses will be marked and marshalled and there will be a cut off time at the Jenkin Hill gate at 60 minutes (Senior Race).

U20 4.2km and 450m ascent
The race will start in Fitz Park and follow the same route as the seniors, until the turn of to Latrigg summit, U20 athletes will head straight to Latrigg carpark and follow the main tourist route to the 570m contour.

- Number collection/registration at Fitz Park pavilion from 14.30.
- Pre-entry only - The race is open to anyone wishing to compete in the trial.
- Entries are welcome from good endurance runners from other disciplines without previous mountain/hill running form.
- FURTHER DETAILS WILL BE CIRCULATED PRIOR TO THE EVENT
Facilities
- Toilets are available in Fitz Park Pavilion. Parking will be in the public car parks/on street parking in Keswick. There will be refreshments in the pavilion.
Hill Safety (VERY IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ)
- All competitors must carry a waterproof top (taped seams), hat and gloves and be prepared to a thermal top and full body cover (taped waterproof trousers) and a survival bag.
- The Race Organiser will decide what kit should be carried on the day. This information will be available at registration.
- The race finishes high up on an exposed mountain side/summit and the only protection you will have from the elements is the gear you carry (organisers are unable to transport kit to the summit).
- Failure to comply with any minimum kit rule will result in disqualification.
- Any athlete who retires from the race must report their retirement to a race marshal.
- Athletes are responsible for making their own way back down the mountain after the finish. We recommend that you follow a flagged race route back down the mountain to the start.
