Signpost Challenge Hike is hosted by South Manchester LDWA. We are back for our 3rd year!
Based in Marple, near Stockport, this hilly and scenic route heads out to the North & East of Marple, passing over Werneth Low, Cown Edge, Lantern Pike & Chinley Churn in the High Peak before returning to Marple via the Goyt Valley way. If the weather is kind, you will see some fine views over Manchester, the South Pennines and the Peak District. The routes pass through pretty villages and interesting areas of Industrial Heritage. The long route crosses the amazing Millennium walkway in New Mills. In addition, you will have the challenge of spotting some of the distinctive green PNFS footpath signs along the way.
There is a choice of 2 routes, 24 miles/4,300ft and 17 miles/3000ft in 10 hours.
NOTE there will be some minor route changes for 2026 approaching Charlesworth to avoid damaged stiles.
There will be 3 outdoor and 1 indoor CP on each route, with a good selection of drinks and snacks. The long route will pass through Hayfield, using the Scout Hut as an indoor CP. The short route will use the Children's Inn at Rowarth as an indoor CP
