☀️SPUNCH MARPLE with MARPLE RUNNERS
Start window: 5pm to 730pm
Can be done solo, in a pair, or as a group of 3 or more. Each participant needs to put in an individual entry EXCEPT accompanied youngsters under 18 who go for FREE (when accompanied by a paying adult who must be 21+). Juniors aged 16 and above can run/walk alone with parental permission - in this case they need their own individual entry at the standard adult rate. Individual entrants aged 16-25 are invited to use the discretionary young adult discount code Spunch25 when entering if they are on low or zero income. This will provide a 25% discount on the applicable entry fee. A waterproof map of the course is provided to ALL participants. Please enter early for the best rates and to help with planning for maps, parking, event officials and catering. |

A mid-summer all-in-daylight Tuesday evening Spunch in and around Marple from the Ring O Bells. Suitable for all ages & abilities - no previous experience required. Locals and newcomers always welcome.
In collaboration with local running club marplerunners.com - the event is open to all.
On-site Registration opens at 5pm and you can start anytime from 5pm to 730pm. (Last start for 90 min course 715pm. Last start for 120 min course 645pm).
What?
A big sporty treasure hunt with a difference - A fun, friendly & safe mini-adventure with a unique & colourful map. Run or walk. 2k to 22k, the choice is yours! 60, 90 and 120 min course duration
options (you can choose on the evening itself).
Visit as many checkpoints as you can in the time available, Satellite punching using the MapRun app on your smartphone, Garmin or Apple Watch. With over 60 SpunchPoints to go for - how many will you bag?
For runners, walkers, friends & families. Suitable for all ages & abilities - no previous experience required. Go solo, pair or in a group of 3 or more. We can usually pair you up on the night if you prefer not to go alone. Lots of help available for newbies. Dogs are welcome too, but must be kept on a lead and under control at all times.
Final details and the MapRun course will be published to all entrants the day before the event.
Where?
The Ring O Bells, 130 Church Ln, Marple, Cheshire, Stockport SK6 7AY.
This canal side pub will provide a warm welcome with a full selection of drinks from the bar and food options (to be confirmed). The pub has both indoor and outdoor areas including a west-facing garden which will be lovely if the weather is kind. The venue is child & dog friendly.
Parking, Registration, Help, Bag Drop, Loos, Start, Finish, Food & Drink all at or very near the venue.
Getting there: About 15-20 mins from J1 & J25/26 M60. About 20-25 mins from J5 M56. Convenient for Wilmslow, Bramhall, Cheadle, Stockport, Denton, Hyde, Romiley, Glossop, Hayfield, New Mills, Chapel, Whaley, Macclesfield, Bollington, Poynton, Hazel Grove & Disley etc.
Catch the Spunch Train: Both Marple stations are about 1.5k from the venue.
The Area & Course
One of our summer all-in-daylight evening series. After negotiating some of the local urban network you will soon be out of town exploring the off-road trails & paths in the areas green spaces including parks, canals and local countryside.
Always good to be in and around Marple. Lots of route choice and lots of hilly and less hilly options at this one. Good running / walking on a mixture of underfoot conditions from tarmac to off-road paths*. There will be something for everyone and even locals will likely discover new paths and places!
Hope you will come along and give it a go. *total absence of mud can not be guaranteed!
