The Format

Here’s how it works.
Run 4.167 miles every hour, on the hour.
Finish your yard within 60 minutes and you go again. Miss the bell and you’re out.

This is an official Backyard Ultra, registered with the global Backyard Ultra database.

Event Four takes place within the stunning Bedgebury National Pinetum & Forest, surrounded by miles of scenic woodland and flowing trails. It’s the perfect setting for the series finale – beautiful, peaceful, and deceptively tough as the laps build up.

You’ll run together, rest together, and push through together, one yard at a time.

The 2025/26 Series

Bedgebury is Event Four in the four-part Kent Backyard Ultra Series.

Series Dates:
• Event One – 14 November 2025 – Vigo Rugby Club, Vigo Village
• Event Two – 10 January 2026 – Great Farthingloe Farm, Dover
• Event Three – 7 March 2026 – Lillyroo’s, Sholden near Deal
• Event Four – 26 June 2026 – Bedgebury National Pinetum, Goudhurst

Each round brings something different. Fields, forests, farmland, and a few stubborn faces you’ll keep seeing again and again.

The Course

The Bedgebury course is a mix of forest trails, wide gravel tracks, and shaded woodland paths with gentle climbs and descents.
It’s smooth underfoot and easy to navigate, but the heat of summer and relentless rhythm of the format make it a challenge that rewards patience, pacing, and preparation.

Every yard is designed to wear you down slowly, just how it should be.

Medals & Buckles

Every effort counts, and we make sure it’s recognised.

• Complete at least 1 yard: Kent Backyard Ultra Medal
• 24 yards / 100 miles: Bronze Buckle
• Be the Assist (2nd place): Silver Buckle
• Be the Last One Standing: Gold Buckle
• Most yards across all four rounds: Black Buckle

You don’t have to win. You just have to keep showing up.

Mandatory Kit

We keep it simple, but we keep it safe.

You must show this at registration and carry it during the event:
• Waterproof jacket with taped seams
• Headtorch (min. 300 lumens)
• Spare battery or backup light
• Reusable bottle or cup
• Trail shoes with grip (a crossover trail-road shoe will be ok)
• Enough food to get you through

No kit, no start. No arguments.
