Pendle Forest Orienteers are pleased to welcome you to a Regional event this November in a brand new area—River Darwen Parkway and Higher Croft Woods—never previously used for orienteering. This attractive green corridor follows the River Darwen through Blackburn, offering a varied mix of open parkland, wooded slopes, and riverside paths, including some urban navigation. The terrain provides both fast, runnable sections and more intricate navigation challenges, making it ideal for a wide range of orienteering experience.
A newly surveyed map will be used for this event, capturing the detail and character of the area for the first time. Courses will be available from Yellow (family-friendly and beginner level) through to Short Brown for experienced orienteers. A Red course will also be offered—perfect for trail runners and club athletes seeking a longer but less technical challenge.
