** NEW MAPPED AREA**
Following re-development of the park and Fife Council grant, KFO are staging the inaugural orienteering event at Riverside Park, Glenrothes.
Riverside Park is an exciting park with areas of woodland and winding paths alongside ponds and incorporating underpasses.
There are many features in the park including: play parks, skatepark, floral gardens, pond, arboretum, orchard, and public art. A hedge maze is on the map!
The following courses will be on offer: yellow, orange, green.
Start window – between 11 – 12pm.
Parking at Riverside Park, car parks on the west and east of Leslie Road A911. Bus stop on Leslie Road also.
Final details will be issued here after entries close.
Guidance on the appropriate course to enter:
Yellow is suitable for newcomers and for a gentle family activity. It will be on paths and tracks, about 2km distance and controls are placed on path intersections or similar easy-to-navigate-to features.
Orange is aimed at competent map readers. There will be an easy to navigate route along paths, or linear features eg hedge, river. However, controls are located just off a line feature eg behind a distinctive tree or statue. About 2.5 km distance.
Green controls are located well-off any path. Fine navigation and using all the detail on the map will be required. For expert navigators and those wanting a challenge. Distance over 3 km.
Note that the course distance is the direct line distance between controls. The optimum navigable route will be longer.
