BL Long-O - High Brow and Watermillock

The car park is at High Row (NY380219, W3W: mega.costumes.sticky), 1.5km west of Dockray. The start and finish are both within 400m of the car park. Portaloo in the car park.

 

Terrain:  Open fell with variable runability and some marshy sections that can be hard going particularly after wet weather. It is mostly grassy but with patches of heather and tussocks. There are sections of rock and contour detail.

 

>  Long 17.3km, 750m climb

>  Medium 12.6km, 430m climb

>  Short 7.0km, 220m climb 

>  Very Short 5.1km, 190m climb

>  Super Short 3.2m, 150m climb

Courses, especially the longer ones, will be planned with the emphasis on route choice rather than fine navigation, so will suit less experienced orienteers as well as regulars.

 

Map:  Probably 1:12,500 for Long and Medium. 1:10,000 for Short and Very Short, 1:7500 for Super Short

 

Entries: Closed 28th August. Some late entry will be available subject to map availability but you must contact the organisers ( [email protected] ) in advance to confirm. There will be no entry on the day. Dibber hire is  available at no charge  - just leave the SI number blank when entering, and collect the dibber on the day.

 

Start Times: 10:00 – 12:00, but if you are doing the Long course try to start before 11am (unless you know you are very fast!).

 

Courses Close: 3:30

 

Dogs: Permitted in the car park but must be on a lead. No dogs on courses - sorry.

 

Pairs: You are very welcome to run as a pair. Enter both of you, start and finish at the same time and let the organisers know you want to appear as a pair in the results.

 

Refreshments: Free tea and cake at the finish
