Beyond the Lune is the brain child of Stu Taylor a seasoned endurance athlete, completing in some of the worlds toughest multi day endurance running and bike packing events. These trail runs have been designed to test you at your own level, social runner, race pace competitor or who knows this could be the first step on your way to completing your first winter ultra!
What is the Skyline Winter Ultra all about?
Starting at The Barn in Kirkby Lonsdale at 7am on the 5th of July after your coffee and pastry you will be setting off on your 65km journey beyond the lune with a cut off time of when the last orders for pizza at 8.30pm in The Barn to get back giving you 13 1/2 hours to get round!
The route: 65km / 40 miles with 2000m / 6500 ft of ascent
We are super excited to bring you the Skyline Winter Ultra, this will be a real battle of the elements, elevation and remoteness. The route does not pass through any towns!
You must be able to self navigate the whole loop using a map or gps unit, there will be two checkpoints and feed stations situated along the way, with hot food and drinks along with the usual sweet treats.
You will be mostly running on footpaths, bridleways (with some boggy sections), whilst keeping the road sections to a minimum , only 10km in total will be on tarmac. This route has everything, fantastic scenery, incredible terrain and technicality, whilst taking in seven summits and passing some iconic landmarks along the way, a favourite from last years trail runs will be the legendary sting in the tail the Radical steps your last real test before arriving back at the Barn for your well earned pizza, beer or mulled wine!
