Thursday evening Village & Country Spunch from the Bush, 181 High Lane, Brown Edge, Stoke-on-Trent ST6 8QA.

Fill the gap in your Staffs Moorlands AC Summer Series calendar with this locally-based Spunch!

60, 90 and 120 min score course options (choose on the night itself).  Bag Drop, Loos, Start, Finish, Food & Drink all at the Bush.  Daylight evening summer Spunch for runners & walkers.  Family friendly & dog friendly too.

Our first visit to the Bush at Brown Edge for this mixed-terrain Spunch.  You might encounter a rich variety of different environments and types of trail* - from Marshes Hill in the north to Norton Green & Stockton Brook in the south.  There is heathland, woodland, farmland, canal & old railway all connected by nice paths, lanes and streets.  With the village & pub being located on a hill / ridge top some ascent and descent is inevitable, but there will be plenty of checkpoints within easy reach for those who travel at a more modest pace.  Even locals will likely discover new paths and places!

Less than 20 mins from M6 J15 & 16 (subject to traffic).  Especially handy for Leek, Biddulph, Congleton, Macclesfield, Buxton, Cheadle, Stoke & the Potteries.

Run, jog or walk - suitable for road runners, trail runners, park runners, fell runners, adventure racers, orienteers, walkers, newcomers, and families alike.  2k to 22k, the choice is yours!   Newcomers and locals always very welcome.  Great for families and friends to do together.  Suitable for all ages and abilities - lots of help available for newcomers.  Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a lead and under control at all times.

Start at your convenience anytime between 530pm & 730pm.  (Last start for 90min course 715pm, last start for 120min course 645pm).  Registration open from 530pm.

Navigating with a specially prepared map, visit as many checkpoints as you can in the time available, S-punching using the MapRun app on your smartphone, Garmin or Apple Watch.

Established before 1690, and recently reopened in 2024 the Bush will provide a warm welcome with excellent Food & Drink available after your run / walk.  The pub is child and dog friendly.  And it has a great outdoor space to sit out if the weather is kind.  At the heart of village life the pub has been rescued and run by a Community Interest Company - hope you will come and support the pub at this event.  "When you have lost your inns, drown your empty selves, for you will have lost the last of England"

With around 80 Spunchpoints to go for - how many will you bag?

Parking will be free and nearby all within a short walk from the pub.

Catch the Spunch Train.  The closest train station is Stoke-on-Trent - about 15 minutes cab ride away.

*total absence of mud can not be guaranteed!
