Welcome to the Cumbrian Galoppen race at Birkett Common. The area is made up of open moorland up to around 400m high, with many marshes, limited line features, and moderate contour details. The north-east part, Birkett Common, is mostly fast runnable grass with some complex rock details. To the south-west Wharton Fell is marshier and slower going, with areas of complex pits and depressions.
The usual range of Galoppen courses will be available from Yellow to Brown. More details are available on the LOC website at https://www.lakeland-orienteering.org.uk/events.
Everyone who attends must follow the ‘Participation Codes of Conduct’ which can be found at the British Orienteering website.
