As part of the Scottish Orienteering League KFO are staging a National orienteering event at Devilla Forest, Kincardine.  This event is also incorporating the Junior Inter Area Competition (JIRC) individual event.

The following courses will be on offer: white, yellow, orange, light green, short green, green, short blue, blue, short brown, brown, black.

Start and finish are a 2.0 km walk, all on forest track.  It will be possible to cycle this with a trail bike. 

The Start window is between 10.30am and 12:30pm.  Courses will “close” at 2:30pm.   

White: Technical Difficulty 1 (easy). Controls on paths at every decision point.    

Yellow:  Technical Difficulty 2 (easy). Controls on paths and tracks with a single navigation decision required in between controls. 

Orange: Technical Difficulty 3 (moderate).  Controls are located just off paths, tracks, fences, and fine navigation is required to locate.

Light Green: Technical Difficulty 4 (moderate/tricky).  Controls are located further away from linear features and more advanced navigation is required to locate, but courses are planned to provide a safety net (early warning) when navigation has gone wrong. 

Short Green, Green, (Short) Blue, (Short) Brown, Black.  Technical Difficulty 5 (hard): Controls are on geographic features and far from linear features, with no safety provided when navigation has gone wrong.  These courses are designed to challenge.  For experienced orienteers only.   Short green is the shortest technical difficulty 5 course and Black the longest.

Location: Scottish Police College, Tulliallan, FK10 4BE.  Vehicular access from the main College entrance on the A977 in Kincardine.  OS Grid reference NS 931 884.

Facilities:  Registration and toilets are within the College.  Hard standing car park.   Scotjos cake stall.

The Courses are not suitable for buggies.
