LAW100 is a 100 mile event inspired by the Lady Anne’s Way Organised by Due North Events

Lady Anne Clifford was the last member of one of England’s great mediaeval dynasties, and became something of a legend in her own lifetime. Lady Anne was a Noblewoman and restorer of castles, and fought a 40-year battle for her right to inherit her father’s estates. Lady Anne devoted herself to restoring and enhancing the castles and churches on her lands, stretching from Skipton to Penrith.

The race will start at the magnificent ruins of Penrith Castle and a modified route between Eamont Bridge and Kirkby Thore is in place to avoid the dreaded road section. From Kirkby Thore the route then follows the true Lady Anne’s Way with a minor deviation on the last few miles from Embsay to Skipton Castle. This is a route steeped in history.

What's involved?
The LAW100 is a non-stop winter 100 mile event. For those wanting to push the boundaries of the average 100 mile event, The LAW100 means that you will face more hours of darkness than light. You will possibly be battling against the Northern weather. Conditions to test your mental and physical capabilities. Why? Because type 2 fun is the best type of fun.
The route is partially marked by Public Rights of Way finger posts with the Lion symbol of the Lady Anne Way, which follows established rights of way. A GPX file will be available.  An excellent guide book is readily available. https://www.ladyannesway.co.uk/guide-book

Four main checkpoints on route will serve a mix of hot and cold food.  Sweet and Savoury. There are toilet facilities at these main CPs.

You will be provided with an official LAW100 20L Ortlieb Dry Bag for a drop bag at two check points.

You will start at 7:30am on Saturday and have until midnight  Sunday to complete the 100 mile route. This gives you over 40 hours in total so a steady average of 2.5mph will have you finishing in Skipton by midnight Sunday.

Event Centre
LAW100 starts at Penrith Castle, Castle Park Penrith and finishes at the gates of Skipton Castle. With the ‘Finish Hub’ in Skipton Town Hall, less than 100 metres from the Castle gates. We will have a finish / reception area to cater for all, especially those pushing the boundaries of Sunday evening. Showers and toilets as well as a hot meal are provided.

You will carry a tracker provided by our friends at Open Tracking with their excellent back-up aiding our safety systems.
