NAV4 Lakes in A Day Recce - Caldbeck to Threlkeld
Once again, Joe Faulkner and his NAV4 team will be hosting these recce days on behalf of Durty Events.
This is your chance to recce a section of the route in the company of other LiAD participants and with experienced NAV4 tutors / LiAD guides.
This recce covers the first section of the event, from the start at Caldbeck to Threlkeld, including the fording of the River Caldew, the ascent of Blencathra and the descent of Halsfell Ridge. After a couple of miles of lane and trail, the majority of the terrain is remote open rough fell, with small grassy wet 'trods', rocky sections and, of course, the infamous Hallsfell descent.
Total distance is just 12 miles but also 3600' of ascent and descent, so it's slow going on a tough section.
The day will include lots of information about the event, suitable clothing gear and shoe choices, what to eat and drink, navigation and route advice, event strategy and training methods.
Transport is provided before each recce from the finish point to the start. Transport will depart at 8:00am, with the recce starting around 9am. Exact meeting places and other details to be confirmed in your 'Final Info' email sent the week before.
Places limited to 30 people.
I will also be running some 'Blencathra-Halls Fell Ridge' half day sessions focusing on safe and efficient movement on this technical ridge. There are two separate half day sessions, both on Sunday 27th August. Book either morning or afternoon. Alternatively, contact me to arrange a One-to-One session for yourself and a friend, on any mutually agreeable date.
