After our successful Kong Mountain Marathon on Arran in 2022, we are for 2023 organising a new event, the Kong Mountain Trial. This will be a 1 day mountain marathon event, combining orienteering and fell running as in the 2 day race. The full 2 day Kong Mountain Marathon will be back in 2024. Similar to the 2 day mountain marathon, we will be offering 3 linear courses where competitors orienteer and run a course of check points selected by us. 

The A course will be appr. 25-30 km with 2000-2500m of climbing, the B course 18-22 km with 1300-1700m of climbing and the C course 13-15 km with 1000-1300m of climbing. We will also offer a score course of 6 hours on which competitors can select their own route and determine themselves how many and which check points they choose. The courses can be run solo or in pairs. The B and Score course can be run by junior runners 16 and over with a responsible adult. The C course can be run by junior runners 14 and over with a responsible adult.  After the race there is plenty of time to share your stories with your fellow competitors over a hearty meal with homemade cakes and hot drinks. 

Besides the mountain marathon courses, we will also organise a 4-5 miles marshalled fell race for anyone who doesn’t want to do the full day. This is for over 16s. 

The Kong Mountain Trial will be held in Central Scotland - the exact location will be announced early 2023. The location will be within 60-90 mins of Edinburgh and Glasgow. 

Registration opens at 7:30 am on the day. The linear and score courses can start anytime between 8:15 and 10 am. Try to arrive at registration at least 30 minutes before you intend to run. At the start line you will be give a water resistant map and a control description / value sheet. The course remains open until 7 pm.

The fell race will start at 11 am. 

Kong Running is providing vouchers for the Kong Shop in Keswick as prizes.
