Eyam Fell Race - Sponsored by The Barrel Inn

Starts and finishes in the historic ‘Plague’ village of Eyam.  Commences with a tough climb out of Eyam up to Sir William Hill, past the Barrel Inn and over towards Abney Moor.  Once there you are rewarded with one of the best views of the Peak District. No time for sightseeing though as you turn right and plummet down through Abney Moor, around a tight switch back and up through the lovely heather towards Sir William Hill again. The route then takes you down through a steep wooded section before you emerge back in to Eyam.

It is a highly popular event as it is close to the end of the season and so we suggest early booking to avoid disappointment as numbers are strictly limited. We also have some great prizes, many of which are supplied by our kind sponsors at The Barrell Inn at Bretton, plus a BBQ and bar in the courtyard at the end. It’s a super friendly event with lots of marshalls, so suitable for a wide range of abilities and experience. If you are new to fell running, try it out! We promise to make you feel very welcome. The race is for ages 17 and upwards (on the day of the race). Anyone under 18 must have some fell running experience over similar distances.

Junior Race

We also have  a 3km junior race, which is for ages 11-16 (on the day of the race). This is a great introduction to fell running for youngsters and the course has been tried out by a variety of abilities. You don’t have to be an athlete to take part! It’s all about having fun. The cost of this is £ 2 paid on the day of the race. Registration is 1700-1730 on the day of the race with no pre-entry. Start is at 1745.  Prizes for different age categories U13, U15, U17 and for 1st local. This run involves a steep ascent including steps, a level section and a steep descent. Shoes with a good grip are advised. The route is marshalled.

Preregistration only: Registration collections at 5.30pm, Race starts at 6.30pm.
