A unique fell race with a difference!
Starting from Honister Mines, all competitors will wear a helmet and headtorch and then race ½ mile uphill to enter the underground mines for a racing experience unlike any other! The race takes competitors through 1km of underground tunnels, inclines and chambers. The passage through the mines has been carefully designed by the Honister Slate Mine staff to provide a route that is not normally open to the general public but provides a safe, interesting and challenging journey.
After racing through the mine, competitors exit the tunnels half way up Fleetwith Pike. They swiftly remove their helmets and headtorches and then race on towards Fleetwith Pike (648m) and then traverse from there to Grey Knotts (697m) before descending back down to Honister and a welcome drink!
The race is a little over 6km with 1500m of ascent but will be one of the most memorable 5km you will have ever done!
Open to anyone aged 16 and over but U18's must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Race starts at 4pm
The race is inconjunction with Honister Slate mines and runners will get a discount code to attend the evening session at Honisterfest for £10 rather than the normal £17.50.
