Race Information

The race will be chip timed and part of The Cinema Coffee 10k Grand Prix race series. There is no option to complete a ‘virtual run’.

The total prize fund, of over £3400, will include the usual age category prizes, for both male & female winners.

The race starts in Castle Park, near the front of the Town Hall, and finishes in Ward Park. The race is an all-inclusive event, and has attracted Olympians such as Paul Pollock, National Marathon Champion (Irl) Laura Graham, local athletes, new athletes and wheelchair participants in the past.

Water stations will be available at The Meadows, Groomsport, and at the finish line.

Refreshments will be provided after the race.

Facilities

Changing facilities, including showers, are available at Aurora Leisure Centre. Toilets are also located in the Leisure Centre, as well as public toilets at the start area.

Free car parking is available at the Aurora Leisure Centre, near the start at Castle Park, or close to the finish at Ward Park. There are also a number of paid-for carparks in the town. Please allow plenty of time to park and make your way to the start line.

Pack collection will take place on Friday 23rd from 5pm-8pm or Saturday 24th from 7.30am-9.30am at Bangor Aurora

Route

The route is fairly flat and fast, with a short hill around 9k. The route starts in Castle Park, close to the front of the Town Hall, and makes its way through Bangor town centre before heading out along the coast and countryside to Groomsport. The route will loop through Groomsport once again meeting the coast for the penultimate KM back to Bangor. The finish area is in Ward Park in Bangor, where there is plenty of space to rest and enjoy the atmosphere. Please note, the roads are not closed to traffic so follow marshals instructions. Why not ask to family and friends to come along and support along the route!

Safety

The race is held under Athletics NI Permit and has been accurately measured. Participants must be 15 years or over on race day. Roads are open to traffic. In line with UK Athletics Rules, the wearing of headphones is NOT permitted. Any athlete wearing headphones during the race will be disqualified.

Please note for Health & Safety reasons, runners will not be allowed to compete pushing buggies or prams. In line with UK Athletics Rules runners must not be accompanied by a dog in the race.
