Great Longstone Chase

In the heart of the Peak District, Great Longstone Chase is a lovely end of summer fell race that has a gentle climb up onto Longstone Edge and takes you across moorland, down through a small wood and back to the village through fields and tracks. The race is 7.7km/4.8 miles with a climb of 290m/950feet. The race is mostly off road with just one section that climbs up Longstone Edge. This race has grown in popularity and numbers are limited to 200 runners. Start time is 6.30 p.m. from the Recreation Ground in the middle of the village. Parking is signposted as you enter the village. Please car share as parking is limited.
The village has two pubs for refreshments after the race and the Cricket Club is usually open on the recreation ground and sells refreshments. The race is organised by the Village Hall committee and raises funds for its upkeep and gives a donation to Edale Mountain Rescue or Buxton Mountain Rescue who provide safety cover.
This year there will be FRA Junior Races for U7 which will be 1km and a U9/U11 2km. Entry for these Junior Races will be on the day from 5 p.m. at the bottom end of the recreation ground.
