SHR short race championship counter. A one-off race (probably) back to back with the annual An Teallach race the following day.

This is the link for the results page: https://protay.co.uk/meallaghiuthais22/ , which is showing a countdown to race start.

The results will be available at the finishline.

Very limited entries on the day at the organiser's discretion.

A race map is on the SHR website together with more details, and full details will be issued in due course to all entrants.

All proceeds will go to the Martin Moran Foundation.  Martin, a high-mountain guide with an illustrious history of climbing (and ultra hill running), died in the Himalayas in 2019.  He lived locally, and was a member of the Torridon MRT.  The foundation helps and inspires young people who would not otherwise have the opportunity to venture into the hills.

There is no established “best route” and ability to use your required map and compass will be essential if visibility happens to be poor. Following advice from Scottish Nature regarding sensitive terrain, steep narrow tracks, covid precautions and normal visitor numbers, the start/finish of the intended 9+ km route will be moved resulting in a 12+ km route, but with exactly the same total ascent. The scenery is even better.  Hoping no one minds.

Chip timing by Protay will be used at the Start/Finish and on the summit, with live feedback.

Kit requirements described in Key Points for Competitors in the SHR Safety section are mandatory for this event.

Many more details will be provided later, but bookable accommodation in the Highlands is already getting scarce.  There is a Caravan Club campsite adjacent to the race venue for folk with larger vans, possibly.  The nearby Taagan campsite has not been investigated.

Later we shall want to know how many vehicles (< 6m) you plan to bring - per party - to work out parking arrangements.
