Great Longstone

This event replaces the previously publicised Goyt Valley event.

As a result of the tree disease Phytophthora ramorum it’s now not possible to hold the Goyt event this year. We are very disappointed but understand that Forestry England are obliged to take measures to mitigate the risks of spreading the disease.

As a consequence, we have taken the decision to relocate the event to Great Longstone with the course heading north from the village and visiting Cressbrook Dale, Longstone Moor, Hassop Common, Oarystones and more. Predominantly on footpaths with some areas of open access.

Peak Raid3 is a series of four 3-hour score events. At the start competitors receive a specially prepared 1:25000 scale map, printed on waterproof paper, and have three hours to visit as many controls as possible. All events in the series use the SPORTident timing system.

Compete solo or run as a pair (or walk or jog)! The score event format enables route choice according to ability, terrain and weather conditions.

Think fell running requiring good route choice and navigation skills. The autumn series uses a variety of terrain; from tough high moorland requiring accurate navigation to more runnable areas with a good network of footpaths.

All events have a score format so you select your own route and go as hard or easy as you like!

The secret for success is to collect as many points as possible within the time limit of three hours. Each area is different so your strategy may need to change each time. Your best three results count towards the overall league result.
