In this year's challenge there will be the same beautiful routes of last year, all with a full route description; they are on a mixture of footpaths, lanes and open moorland around Chagford.

The event is not a race – it is a challenge: Your Challenge is to complete your chosen distance: 50 Km with 1600 meters of ascent, 35 Km with 1100 meters of ascent or 27 Km with 900 meters of ascent, using paths, tracks, quite country lanes and open moorland, by 19:00, but there are no prizes for doing so faster than that (although you will receive a certificate) and the last finisher gets a bigger cheer than the first!

Entrants must be able to read a map and follow compass bearings and

must have sufficient knowledge, experience, equipment and navigational skills

to take part in this walk in all conditions and especially in the event of bad weather.

All routes are covered by the OS Explorer OL28 Dartmoor (1:25,000) or the OS Landranger 191 (1:50,000) Okehampton & North Dartmoor.

Because the routes have been agreed with the Dartmoor National Park Authority it is important that you keep to them at all times.

All entrants must download a full route description from C&D LDWA website, print it and take it to the event.

Route descriptions and gpx files will be available from the 13th September 2022, on the C&D LDWA website.

Certificates will be given on the day to all those who complete the walk.

Entry is Limited to 350 people but

no more than 99 entries will be accepted for each of the walking/running options

for safety reasons.

The entry list will close when either, the entry limit of 350 is reached or by10th Sep 2022.

More information will be found at Chagford Challenge 2022  but the full rules and notes can be downloaded by clicking Here. You MUST read them before you enter the event.

Route descriptions and gpx files will be available from the 13th September 2022, on the C&D LDWA website, after they have been tested on the marshals walk.
