The Cumbria Way Ultra

Please note that due to the closure of the Cumbria Way footpath between Dalston and Cummersdale, both the CWU and CWU30 will finish at the Dalston Checkpoint for this year. This makes the CWU 68.4 miles/110.1km, and the CWU30 24.9 miles/40km.

All bunk bookings for Carlisle Castle will be refunded. We will transport any competitors with hotel bookings in Carlisle from Dalston to Carlisle. Competitors will be allowed to sleep at the Dalston CP, but please note this will simply be floor space at the Hall. Showers are available at the Finish in Dalston.

The CWU30 coach will still pick up from Carlisle at 08:00 on Saturday 17th as usual, but will also pick up at The Square, Dalston, en route to the Start in Keswick.

The CWU coach will still pick up in Carlisle at 10:30 on Sunday 18th, at the Castle Car Park, Devonshire Walk, Carlisle CA3 8AN, and will also pick up at The Recreation Hall, Dalston at 11:00, en route to Ulverston.

A fully waymarked 73 mile trail ultra race on 17th - 18th September 2022 - 73 miles with over 10,000 feet of ascent following the iconic trail through the beautiful Lake District from south to north. The event starts at 6am in Ulverston and passes through Coniston, Langdale, Keswick and Caldbeck, finishing at the beautiful Carlisle Castle, taking in the varied terrain and stunning views of the Lakes.

The event is open to solo runners and relay teams of 5, with the relay legs being approximately 15, 13, 15, 15, 15 miles.

The route is fully waymarked with the gpx file available to download.

All competitors will receive the event technical t shirt or vest (unless you select the opt out option), bespoke Lakeland slate medal, bottle of beer, free event photographs and all food and drink at the 5 Checkpoints along the route plus a hot meal at the Finish. All competitors will be provided with a mandatory tracker.

There are prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female Solo runners and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Relay Teams of 5.

Coach transfer is available from the finish at Carlisle Castle to Ulverston at 10:30 on Sunday 18th @ £25 per person. The event finishes at Carlisle Castle where there are showers available. There is also the option to hire a bunk in the Ypres building in the Castle for £30 per bunk, limited to 44 bunks. The coach transfer and bunks must be pre booked and paid via the online entry system.
