Lets Run Adventures are planning a recce of the first part of the Hardmoors 55. Starting from Guisborough you will follow the Hardmoors 55 race route including ascents of the Three Sisters and Carlton Bank, all the way to Scarth Nick then finishing at Cod Beck car park.

The start will be by the Large Car Park at Bellmangate, off of Rectory Lane in Guisborough at 09:30. Transport if required will leave from the large car park at Cod beck (the finish of the reccy) at 08:00 to travel to Guisborough.

The route will follow the Cleveland Way from Guisborough to Scarth Nick on the Cleveland Way and then back to the car park at Cod beck. There will be two checkpoints along the way providing drinks and snacks. The distance is around 25 miles and it is anticipated that the event will take around ten hours.

There will be two groups catering for the varying abilities, although primarily aimed at those entering the HM 55 in March the recce is open to anyone who would like to do some training, without the worry of logistics who are able to complete the distance within ten hours.

Mandatory Equipment to be carried is as follows:

  • Waterproof jacket and bottoms with taped seams
  • Hat and gloves
  • Long running bottoms if not worn
  • At least 500 mils of fluid
  • Spare food
  • Head torch with spare batteries
  • Spare insulating top/jacket
  • Emergency bivvy bag
  • Whistle/Compass Map OL26 or equivalent (Harveys)
  • Fully charged Mobile phone

It is suggested that you have the OS Locate and What3words Apps downloaded onto your phone.

Each participant will sign to say that they have the mandatory kit, remember this is a winter event and the kit list is the minimum you should be carrying.

Last year it was cold and wet underfoot.

Dogs welcome on leads.
