Lets Run Adventures are planning an evening recce of the second half of the Hardmoors 55. This is the part of the route most runners will tackle in the dark. Starting from Cod Beck, you will follow the Hardmoors 55 race route including ascents of Black Hambleton and the White Horse all the way to Helmsley.

The start will be at Cod Beck large car park just outside of Osmotherley, North Yorkshire, at 4pm on Saturday the 12th February 2022. We will be putting on a bus if you wish to leave your cars in Helmsley at the finish and be transported to the start. This will be at a charge of £10 per bus ticket per person.

The route will follow the Hardmoors 55 route from Scarth Nick up into Osmotherley and up to Square Corner where there will be a CP with snacks and drinks. From there follow the Cleveland Way and Hardmoors 55 route to Helmsley. There will be a further CP at Sutton Bank.

Distance is around 25 miles.

You will be led by qualified and experienced ultra and trail runners who between them have done the route multiple times, depending on numbers transport will be organised to return people to the start.

Mandatory Equipment to be carried is as follows:

  • Waterproof jacket and bottoms with taped seams
  • Hat and gloves
  • Long running bottoms if not worn
  • At least 500 mils of fluid
  • Spare food
  • Head torch with spare batteries
  • Spare insulating top/jacket
  • Emergency bivvy bag
  • Whistle/Compass Map OL26 or equivalent (Harveys)
  • Fully charged Mobile phone

It is suggested that you have the OS Locate and What3words Apps downloaded onto your phone.

Each participant will sign to say that they have the mandatory kit, remember this is a winter event and the kit list is the minimum you should be carrying.

Last year it was cold and wet underfoot.

Dogs welcome on leads.
