Once again, Joe Faulkner will be hosting a Montane Cheviot Goat recce training weekend, giving you the opportunity to recce the full route over the two days. Joe has done all three previous editions of The Goat, completing each time despite some serious weather. He is a professional mountaineer and trainer with vast event experience, all over the UK
Based at Ingram Village Hall, (the event start and finish venue), you get to see the locality in daylight!.
Whats’ included:
- Two full days recceing in the wild remote country of the Cheviot. All logistics taken care of so you can immerse yourself in your preparation, in good company and an amazing shared adventure.
- Transport each day to / from the halfway point, or an alternative point, allowing plenty of scope to recce all or some of the route. Be aware, it's a convoluted route, with very slow remote access roads, so my previous experience of getting you into the right places will be key.
- Lots of advice, and event knowledge and tips, and help with the key navigational areas.
- A Saturday evening indoor session discussing gear, clothing and all manner of event advice.
- Quick map and compass refresher for some, plus anything else we can cram in.
- Indoor camping in the village hall - Friday and Saturday night - if you need it. You are welcome to arrange your own posh bed locally if you prefer.
I'll be providing good simply wholesome NAV4 catering at the village hall. Plentiful brews - tea coffee and traybakes on arrival and post recce day. Saturday evening supper - Soup, Veggie Chill and pudding, probably a ‘recovery drink or two’ Simple breakfast each day, Saturday and Sunday: cereals, fruit, porridge, toast, etc.
Arrive Friday evening or Saturday morning ready to recce. All welcome, whether competing or not.
Cost is inclusive £90. Limited to 12 people.
