Basic Map Reading session, covering:
- Map types, map symbols and legends.
- Map orientation using features and compass.
- Four and six figure Grid references.
- Use of magnetic compass, taking and setting a bearing
Session is perfect for walkers and runners alike who have little or no navigational experience, or anyone wishing to polish up on previously taught skills.
The session will take place on Sunday the 3rd of October starting at 10:00 and finishing at 16:00.
All equipment will be provided.
Coffee/Tea and some refreshments will be included and there is an excellent cafe at the Hub serving meals and snacks.
The session takes place in the glorious setting of The Yorkshire Cycle Hub which is plum in the centre of Fryup Dale within the stunning North Yorkshire Moors National Park.
The sessions are aimed at people who have very little or no navigational experience or have not touched a map and compass for a long time. It is suitable for runners , walkers.and anyone else who would like to tune up their map navigation skills.
Most of the session will be classroom based though there will be some time spent outside so appropriate clothing will be required.
