Hutton Roof Crags Fell Race

After the difficulties of the last 18 months this is the delayed 35th running of this traditional fell race over 7 miles (11.2km) and 400 metres of ascent. The race starts at 2pm, you must have collected your number by 1.45pm.
Taking in the beautiful hills of Hutton Roof Crags and Farleton Knott, the route follows established paths and routes are partially marked. Some changes have had to be made this year to run alongside the scree on Farleton and not across it as a result of concerns from Natural England which we fully understand and support.
Since our last event, we were very sad to learn of the passing of Pete Bland who was instrumental in establishing our race all those years ago and presented the prizes at our last races in 2019.
Generous prizes supported by Pete Bland Sports will be awarded for male and female open and vet categories through to Vet 70, including cups for first and second male and first lady.
Some navigation is now required to follow guidance and our license through the Fell Runners Association. Checkpoints and basic route maps are accessible from the Hutton Roof Village website - http://www.huttonroof.org.uk/FellRace/2021/index.html

Sadly our normal country fair and junior races can't be held this year but we are hoping to bake some of our fantastic cakes and have a refreshment stall at the Village Hall. There will also be displays from our 'Friends of Hutton Roof Common' group inspired by the fell race and hoping to look after our special crags well into the future.
A final note...we have attempted to keep the costs of the event to the bare minimum, but without the extra income from our village fete this means things will be tight. There is an option on SiEntries for any extra donations, therefore, to be given to village hall funds to keep things going for the future.
