Chip timing:    The race number will contain the race chip. Gun to finish times will be used for results and awards purposes.  The chip to chip time is for your personal use. Complete the medical details on the reverse. You must wear your number on the front of your shirt.  That is where the manual timekeepers will look for it.

Registration:   Will be from 8.30am to 9.30am in the club and will close promptly. Affiliated athletes to wear club vests.  As last year, the race director will park in designated car parks in the week leading up to the race to allow local participants to collect their numbers prior to race day. Any runners who already have their numbers are not required to attend registration. Turn up ready to run.

Headphones:  The event is run under UK Athletic rules and as the race is open road we would rather you didn’t wear them however bone conductor types of head/earphones are permitted.  You may be stopped and checked if the type is not immediately obvious. Any runner caught wearing anything else will be disqualifed.

The Route:

The route had to change last year as Natural England refused permission to use the Goss Moor trail.  Given that things are not fully back to normal it is easier to continue with the same route for this year. It consists of two oneway loops joined by a twoway middle section, entirely on road.

It is a scenic route through country lanes with a 600 yard section on main road.  All the route is open to traffic, apart from the final 400 yards to the finish, as in previous years. There is around 1100ft of climb.

From the start on Chapel Road go straight ahead along Moorland Road for about a mile, bear sharp left then straight on through Ruthvoes to the grassy triangle. Turn right then just before Springfield Fun Park turn left.

At Blackcross go straight across and up the first hill.  At the top bear right.

At the junction turn right towards St Columb and at the top of the next hill you will be directed through a wooden fence leading to the main road towards Newquay. Turn left and keep left for approx. 600 yards.

Take the left to Tregaswith.  Stay on this road until directed left just before Nanswhyden Farm.

Very steep downhill to the ford. Bear left just before the ford and over a footbridge.  Don’t be tempted to run through it as it will be slippery.

At the next junction turn left which will bring you into Trebudannon.  Go straight through Trebudannon until you can go no further and the road bears right.  Do not take the right near the water station.

At the junction go straight across and retrace the route back to Ruthvoes triangle.  Do not go left into Ruthvoes but carry on up the hill to the next junction.  Truro Timber Frames on your right.

As you approach this junction you will see a cone in the centre of the road.  After you have passed to the left of this cone turn right and onto the pavement all the way back to Queens club and the finish.  Be careful of the speed humps in the drive leading to the car park at the club.

The race:

Starts at 10.00 along Chapel Road between the Methodist Chapel and Port & Starboard.

Drinks stations will be approx. 3 miles, 9 miles, 12 miles.

All of the route is open to traffic apart from the final 400 yards.

Cut off time is 3 hours.  No dogs, cycles, pushchairs, walkers, and no outside assistance.  Not suitable for wheelchairs.  Competitors with other disabilities or medical issues must contact the race director prior to entering so that the medical team can be prepared in advance. You must obey marshals’ instructions and be aware that they cannot legally stop traffic.
