An annual mountain biking event, now in its 22nd year, over a 25-mile way-marked course with 4000 feet of ascent, half off-road and half on country roads.

Set in the beautiful Calder Valley, the route runs over tracks and lanes across the surrounding moors with stunning views of the area. There are, however, some steep ascents and descents as the route takes you from moor top to moor top in these high Pennine valleys.

The route is fully signed, gates and other obstacles are manned by event marshals, and if you find it impossible to continue, we will transport you back to the HQ. Full route information and maps can be found on our website.

Safety is covered by an experienced team with First Aiders and radio communications by Calderdale Raynet.

eBikes are welcome at the event providing that they are covered by the UK Government's EPAC legislation. That is that they must have pedals that can be used to propel it. If your eBike can be propelled without pedalling (a ‘twist and go’ EAPC) then these are classed as a motorcycle or moped and cannot be used on this event.

Hot food and drinks are available at the clubhouse on your return. There is also a licenced bar run by the cricket club that may be open in the afternoon.

Registration at Sowerby Cricket Club, St Peters Avenue, Sowerby, Sowerby Bridge, HX6 1DF. Car parking is available in the school car park (opposite) and on the roadside. Checkin on the day will open at 7.45am and close at 9.00am. Your timing starts 10 minutes after registration and you should use this time to attach the number plaque to your bike and set off (there is no mass start this year). You will receive your entry number on the day.

Each competitor receives an event momento.

The event is run by the 24th St Paul's Sowerby Bridge Scout Group.
