A beautiful cycle ride organised by The Rotary Club of Kirkcudbright

New route this year! 80 miles. For full details see http://www.gallowayrecyclesportive.co.uk/index.php/the-routes . We are not running the 102 mile route this year, but hope you will enjoy the new 80 mile route!

Please enter early as it makes it easier for us to plan and organise the event. For the two longer routes (67 miles and 80 miles) if you enter by the end of July the entry fee is £30, but from the 1st of August the online fee for the two longer routes increases to £35.

For the 30 mile route online entry is £25 until the end of July and £30 from the 1st of August.

For all 3 routes entry on the day will be a further £5 (i.e. £35 for the 30 mile route and £40 for the 67 and 80 mile routes).

Choose between 80 Miles, 67 Miles or 30 Mile circular routes on quiet Galloway roads, all routes clearly arrowed and marshalled.

  • Feed Stations
  • Electronic Timing
  • Support vehicles and motor cycles on patrol in case of problems
  • Food when you finish.
  • Broom wagon to bring you back if you "just can't go on", for mechanical or other reasons!

By running the event with volunteers, we manage to keep our expenses to a minimum, and hence maximise the amount raised for charity.  Your enthusiasm for cycling and participation in this event will ultimately help those less fortunate.  All money raised goes to charity: half to Rotary charities, and half going to cycling-related charities.  We are again supporting ‘Killie Can Cycle’ which is based in Kilmarnock.  They collect bikes donated from around Ayrshire and restore them to working order, selling them at low cost to children in Scotland. They also supply bikes to children in third world countries.  Check out their website http://killiecancycle.webs.com .

Some quotes from previous participants:

"Well organised as ever, great day- thanks Kirkcudbright Rotary" - Susanne Greeley

"Massively enjoyable event, huge thanks to the organisers and fellow riders" - Robert Duncan

"Hi. Would just like to say my husband, brother, friend and I had a fantastic time on Saturday doing your well organised event. Could you please send us some pictures please. This would be very much appreciated. Will definitely be back next year" - Margaret Irvine

"We took part in the 67 mile Sportive on Saturday. This is just to say how much we enjoyed the event (our first sportive) - excellent organisation, very friendly officials and marshals and excellent food!  Thanks to all who helped, and we'll definitely be back next year" - Bob and Susan McClean

"Well sign posted and marshalled. Friendly atmosphere - I signed up to cycle myself but quickly found others also cycling themselves. Excellent soup and cakes! Generally just a well organised event particularly with the time chip system" - Helen Steele

"Thank you for a fantastic event on Saturday.  I think it was the best organised sportive I've ever done, great route, great refreshments, lovely marshalls, great weather (so glad it was on Saturday - not Sunday).  Have already recommended it to everyone on Facebook and will be back.  Thanks to all involved" - Miriam & Graham Adcock

"Well done on staging another excellent event and laying on good food, good support and good weather. A little less wind next year, please, for the closing miles. The soup at the end is always a treat - one of my favourite meals of the year. I suspect a secret recipe. The Tunnocks, too, are a treat. Everyone is friendly, the setting and route are first class. One of my favourite rides of the year. I hope it was a successful day from your point of view and a good amount raised for the cause" - Graham Moss

"Thank you for organising such an excellent event.  Without doubt the friendliest and best organised of the many sportives I have ridden.  The route was scenic, varied and set at a sensible challenge level. The signposting and catering of the highest quality with the additional bonus of a Tunnocks Caramel wafer at every stop....what more could a man want!! Without doubt one that my club mates and I will enter again" - John Logue
