MTBO British Long Distance Championships, part of the Moravian Orienteering Club MTBO Weekend. Sunday morning long distance event held in Darnaway, Forres. To be competetive in the British Long Distance Championships please enter your appropriate age class. Other riders can enter any of the 3 open courses.
Course A: 25km (Open, M/W21 - M/W50)
Course B: 18km (Open, M/W18, M/W20, M/W60, M/W70)
Course C: 12km (Open, M/W10, M/W12, M/W14, M/W80) (It is advised that U14s are shadowed)
Darnaway is a commercial forest with a mix of beech and coniferous woodland. There is a complex labyrinth if roads, paths and tracks that cover a vast area and allow for multiple long legs with interesting route choices. 150m contour difference between NE and SW corner.
Pre entries only. A MTBO long distance course. Starts between 10.00 and 12.00 with courses closing at 14.00.
This event is registered and insured through BMBO. Anyone is able to participate but if you wish to join BMBO please register at https://www.bmbo.org.uk/.
Adults membership £8/year or you can register as day rider for free. U21 free.
This event is organised by Steve Smirthwaite (BMBO member MTB006289) and members of Moravian Orienteering Club. The club will follow MTBO guidelines but also the more comprehensive guidelines produced by Scottish Orienteering and British Orienteering Federation.
Everyone who attends must follow the Participation Codes of Conduct of the British Orienteering Federation.
