Navigation Foundation - Runners/Walkers

An immersive session (10:00 - 14:00) of delving in to the fundamentals of navigation and putting them into use. You will learn:
- Map features and symbols
- Locating yourself on the map using the clues around you
- Compass bearings and moving on bearings
- Relocating yourself
- Following a route
- Estimating time needed to follow a route
Plus many other tips and tricks.
The Course will take place at The Bothie, Sutton Scarsdale, near Chesterfield.
This will be a mix of indoor / outdoor training so ensure you are wearing suitable clothing / footwear relative to the conditions. We will be moving around rural paths and countryside - at a walking pace rather than running.
If you have your own compass bring it along. If not we do have some you can borrow.
Please note: First Light Active endeavour to provide a safe, risk assessed training environment both in the classroom and in the practical outdoor setting. Operating procedures include elements to minimise catching or transmitting COVID-19. The delivery is adapted so that it incorporates good hygiene practices and working safely at a social distance. Due to the current 2 metre social distancing requirement, each course is limited to 4 clients. Each client is asked to bring their own hand sanitiser, gloves and face mask (bandana/buff type covering is ok). As well as notifying clients this in writing ahead of the course, it will be discussed with clients at the start of a session.
By way of offering further reassurance to clients, if the course is unable to go ahead because of further COVID-19 restrictions you will be able to get a refund (less booking fee) or transfer to a new date. Any client experiencing COVID-19 symptoms in the 24 hours prior to attending a course will be able to transfer their booking or claim a refund.
