The Souter Lighthouse 10km is a brand new event for 2021 along the beautiful coastline trails. The event will take place on Saturday 31st July as part of the Souter Lighthouse Summer Running Festival. All finishing runners will receive a medal. 

The course passes by Whitburn Nature Reserve, Marsden Rock/Marsden Bay, Frenchman's Bay & has fantastic views overlooking Sandhaven Beach.

The Souter Lighthouse 10km course is 1 full lap set on coastal trail paths & footpaths.

There will be a starting window from 10am-10.30am in which runners can make their way to the start line and set off on their own or in groups on the fully marked & marshalled course. (We would advise the stronger and more serious club runners to set off as early as possible to get a clearer run of the course)

10am-10.30am Start Window


12pm - We do not have a strict cut off time and all runners can complete the course, but we would encourage runners to complete their run by 12pm. All runners can finish ahead of our tail runner that will set off from 10.30am.

Course Map - plotaroute.com/route/1570059 - Course is set on National Trust land. Runners do not have right of way and we request common courtesy to other park users.

Number Collection - On the day from 8.30am

Race HQ – Souter Lighthouse, postcode SR67NH

Footwear – Road & trail shoes are both suitable for the course. If very wet we would advise trail shoes.

Headphones – permitted as long as you can also listen out for instructions from marshalls & race organisers at all times.

Toilets - Available at Souter Lighthouse & at Marsden Grotto Public Toilets (on course). 

Drinks - To limit contact with others and reduce plastic waste, runners must bring their own drinks & containers and be responsible for their own hydration throughout the race. Water will be available for emergencies only on the course and at the finish line. 

Medals - Awarded to all finishers

UKA Athletics rules - licensed with Trail Running Association

Litter - To protect the coastline, please take any litter home with you or dispose in bins at Souter Lighthouse. If you do need to dispose of litter on the course, please leave it with a marshall and make them aware.

Car parking – Available at Souter Lighthouse site on the field to the North of the Lighthouse. There will be a £3 charge for parking set by The National Trust. Free for national trust members. Please Car Share where possible. 

Transfers will be available until 25/07/21. Log in to your SiEntries account to amend your entry. We are unable to offer refunds or deferrals at this stage, due to committing our resources & expenses to this years race. Thank you for supporting our small local business & run club.

Required Kit List - Runners must bring their own drinks, energy gels/snacks if needed and face coverings for indoors.

This event offers the option to purchase upgraded refundable terms, so that participants may be able to get a refund if they are unable to attend due to unforeseen circumstances.
