This is an Introduction session to Wild Swimming session. It starts at the beautiful Fell Foot Park at the bottom of Windermere and involves a swim down from the lake towards the river Kent. Previous swimmers who have taken a guided swim are always amazed at the scenery and wildlife. If you are really lucky, you might also see the old steam train pass through the trees at the side of the lake on it journey to Lakeside – quite an impressive sight!

We start our morning with a quick briefing about the plan for the morning accompanied with tea/coffee and cake. Once everyone is suited and booted we will head on our journey from Fell Foot Park, there will be several stops along the way for rest, chats and to take in the wonderful scenery. Everyone will have the option to use a tow float if they would like to use it to take a quick breather. However, there are also plenty of parts of our swim that you will be able to stand if you fancy a little rest from swimming. We will be looking to cover in the region of 800 – 1000m over the morning. There will also be an option for some swimmers to do less than this and enjoy more of a localised swim and less distance starting from the meadow at Fell Foot park.

It is a 2hr session run at Fell Foot Park, Windermere lake. (these are one off sessions not a course)

Session run: 10:00 – 12:00 (approx. finish time)

Standard: Beginner to intermediate (breaststroke swimmers are fine). Swimmers need to be able to swim 800m in a pool or open water.

We have just 8 places available on the May course, but 15 places on the June & July Course. Wetsuit hire (sorry limited sizes) & use of tow floats included within the cost if needed (if you have your own tow float, please bring it), free swim cap included too. By the June & July course, the water should have warmed up to 17/18 degrees (has been known at 21 degree Celsius :-) & swimmers are welcome to swim in bathers.
