The Oxon 40/20 2021 Anytime Challenge

This unsupported anytime challenge event is a replacement for the traditional Oxon 40/20 which had been planned for May 1st 2021. Entrants can participate at a time of their choosing between 12th April 2021 and 28th June 2021. The event is entirely unsupported, so there are no refreshments provided and no marshals on the route or providing support in any way.
The event offers the choice of routes
- Select Oxon 20 course for the 20 mile route
- Select Oxon 40/32 course for the 40 mile or 32 mile** routes
** The 32 mile route is a shortened version of the 40 mile route, a decision on which distance to complete can be taken at Russell’s water, approximately 25 miles into the walk.
The event continues to be in the scenic Chilterns, including Bluebell woods, if the walk is undertaken before mid April the bluebells are unlikely to be fully out, and after early May the Bluebells will be past their best. The route takes in paths in Buckinghamshire and south Oxfordshire.
When choosing the distance to enter, entrants should take into account that completing the route unsupported is a harder challenge than doing so as part of a normal supported LDWA event. This is particularly true of the 40 mile event, which includes significant hills, and where completing the distance in daylight hours will be a challenge.
The entry fee will be £5.

- Oxon 40/20 cloth badge £2.50
These prices include postage. The badge is a generic Oxon 40/20 badge as supplied in previous years, and is not year specific.
The main start will be at Stokenchurch Green (GR SU 760 963), an alternative start Cowleaze Wood Car Park, (GR SU 725 956) may be more convenient for parking, Details will be provided in the route description
Route Descriptions and GPX
The route descriptions and GPX files will be emailed to entrants within 3 days of entry.
Results & Certificates
Entrants who complete the event should send an email to tv.oxon4020@ldwa.org.uk with their distance, time taken and date of completion (time taken may be omitted if wished), they will receive a personalised, print at home, certificate by email in a pdf format. Optionally you can choose to receive a certificate by post (£2 extra). Certificates will be emailed or posted within 2 weeks, 2nd class mail will be used for postage so allow an additional week for delivery.
Results will only be counted if completed between 12th April 2021 and 28th June 2021 and results submitted to tv.oxon4020@ldwa.org.uk by 30th July 2021. Any entries not submitted by 30th July 2021 will not be eligible for a certificate (electronic or printed)
Results will be published on the Thames Valley website after the event concludes at Past Results
