This weekend will give you all the essential skills needed for success at your next Mountain Marathon whether you are a first timer or experienced competitor searching for that extra edge.
The weekend will include 2 full days of tuition from Elite mountain marathon competitors who are also experienced mountain navigation coaches.
We will explore map reading and compass skills as well as route choice and navigation tactics. The scales will be out as we look at the mandatory kit list and experiment with different options for clothing, tents, stoves and food. What does it take to get a racing pack below 4kg?
Based near Aviemore we have easy access to the mountains and a variety of locations that we can use for our training.
Saturday
0900 - 0930 Meet the team and discuss plans and aspirations for the weekend
0930 - 1030 Equipment - what it takes to get a racing pack under 4kg
1030 - 1700 Hill session, Max ratio 1:6 - Mountain marathon navigation coaching. descending technique
Sunday
0900 to 1000 - Route planning theory
1000 to 1530 - Hill session, Max ratio 1:4. Putting it all into practice.
1530 to 1630 - Review of the weekend
This course includes two days of instruction and does not include accommodation or meals, allowing you the flexibility to choose your own.
