North Highland Harriers

North Highland Harriers (NHH) are delighted to bring you the Caithness 10k, using the Easter 10k course starting and finishing in the village of Staxigoe. The race will start at 10.30am. The Caithness 10k is a Scottish Athletics Licensed Event and is held under UK Athletics rules.

The race will follow the COVID guidelines on staging events developed by Scottish Athletics.

Entries are limited to NHH, Orkney Running Club and Orkney Athletics Club members only.

Entry is online, with no entry on the day and transfer of numbers is not permitted due to COVID guidelines and Track and Trace requirements. We do not offer a refund or deferral if you have to withdraw from the race. 

The race will have two waves of 30 athletes. In order to allow these waves to be formed, you must provide an estimated time. Confirmation of all details relating to the race will be e-mailed to entrants and placed on the NHH website the week prior to the race.  You must read the details carefully and follow all instructions.

There will be no toilet facilities available and runners must come ready to run. Any runners found to be using the surrounding area as a toilet will be disqualified from the race. 

Runners must follow Scottish Government guidance with regard to car sharing.

Under UK Athletics rules the wearing of 'in ear' headphones is NOT permitted, however bone conducting headphones is allowed at runners own risk.

There will be no water stations on the course.

Every finisher will receive a medal and there will be no prize giving. All runners are required to leave as soon as they finish their race and have collected their medal.

Runners must be aged 15 or over on the day of the race and no external assistance from dogs or cyclists are permitted.

Due to the COVID guidelines, we cannot have spectators at the race. Please do not bring your family / friends to the race.

No one should attend any events if they:

  • Have been in contact with someone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days
  • Have been overseas to a country on the quarantine list or exposed to someone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days
  • Have COVID-19 symptoms (self-isolate for 10 days) or are feeling unwell
  • Have been told to self-isolate as part of the contact tracing measures in place
