In a variation to the common Duathlon, The Glen Clova Extreme Duathlon 2021, is a 27km bike ride on single track road (suitable for road bikes, hybrids and mountain bikes), with a 14km run/walk taking in 2 Munro Summits, then a 6km bike ride to the START/FINISH LINE at The Glen Clova Hotel - ALL IN UNDER 8 HOURS!
We provide:
* Race pack: Official Race Number;
* Accurate Timed Event undertaken using chip timing;
* Professionally First Aid Trained Personnel; Bike & Hill Marshals;
* Free Camping on Friday night at The Glen Clova Hotel.
All Competitors that complete the Event will receive a Commemorative Medal.
Engraved Trophies for First; Second; and Third Places - in both Male and Female categories to be presented at The Official Prize Ceremony at The Glen Clova Hotel.
Please be aware the mountain element of the 2021 event WILL NOT be marked/flagged. Maps will be provided in the Race Pack and an overview map will be on display in the Registration Area. A good standard of navigation will be required to complete the course safely. Competitors must appreciate the potential seriousness of being in the mountains in bad/poor visibility. Volunteer marshalls will be placed around the bike and mountain elements. A kit check will be undertaken prior to the Event. The minimum kit MUST be taken on the mountain element - this maybe checked and anyone found not having this, will be subject to a time penalty. A kit list is available on the website. All volunteers and staff involved in the event will be clearly identifiable. The Event will only be cancelled, re-routed or stopped for reasons of safety. If conditions become dangerous, the Organisers will endeavour to provide an alternative route. Entry fees, however, are not refundable.
During the bike element, 'drafting' is not allowed.
The Tayside Mountain Rescue Glen Clova Extreme Duathlon 2021 is supported by Dundee Tiso, The Bank Bar, Dundee and The Glen Clova Hotel. All proceeds from the Event go to Tayside Mountain Rescue.
