Start and finish the Bonnie Prince Ultra in the stunning location of Glenfinnan.  Known better for the Harry Potter Viaduct and the Bonnie Prince Charlie monument, Glenfinnan is an area you don’t want to miss! Steeped in history and offers some of the most amazing views in Scotland.

This route will take you along the shore of Loch Sheil to Polloch and from there you follow some road and along join the trail again along the side of Loch Doilet, before another short road section to take you to towards Scotstown, there taking some tracks through some common grazing passing by some disused lead miles, before returning to Polloch by the coffin road!  Once in Polloch you rejoin the forestry track back along the loch to Glenfinnan.

The first male and female returning will raise the standard, where Bonnie Prince Charlie is said to have raised his father’s Standard at Glenfinnan, marking the start of the 1745 Jacobite campaign. (Raising the standard means ‘raising the flag).

This 37 mile ultra is to celebrate the 70th birthday of one of our best friends, Peter Berrie.  For those you have have the pleasure of knowing him, will agree he is indeed a very special guy.  He expressed an interest in completing an ultra for his 70th and we decided to bring the race to him.  Peter only started running a few years ago and is a tremendous runner, last year completing all 5 races at the Fort William Trail Running Festival weekend.

All this on the 4th April 2020, on the weekend celebrating the 700th anniversary the Declaration of Arbroath?! #bonnieprincecharlie #declarationofabroath #raisethestandard
