Hugely popular and successful in 2018 & 2019, the Dukes Weekender Cycling Festival is returning to Aberfoyle for it's 3rd year! The Dukes Weekender ventures into the mountains and forests of the beautiful and iconic Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park, with some extra twists and turns up a Gravel Hill Climb in the beautiful forest, but with a festival atmosphere. Included during the weekend there will be a shorter Dukes Kids Mini Enduro for families and children on the Saturday morning.

The Dukes Weekender entry is for the Hill Climb on Saturday and Sunday's Gravel Enduro. These events will be combined to honour the overall winners.

Part 1 of the Dukes Weekender is the Dukes Hill Climb taking place on Saturday afternoon. This will also be available as a stand alone event as well as counting towards the main event. Every rider will stand a chance to be crowned Duke or Duchess of the Hill. This rare chance to race through a festival in the forest is a fantastic experience for riders and spectators alike. This year we are also opening for adaptive recumbent bikes and children to race. Come and have a go, you'll love it!

Part 2 of the Dukes Weekender is the Dukes Gravel Enduro taking place on Sunday from 9am. It is a socially orientated event that explores an almost entirely off-road route on a variety of trails in the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park. For competitive riders, the event is based on an "Enduro" format with a variety of electronically timed stages. It is suitable for Mountain Bikes, Cyclo-Cross Bikes, Gravel Bikes and Adaptive Bikes including both recumbent hand and foot pedal powered bikes. We will allow e-bikes in this Adaptive category.

PLEASE NOTE COMPETITORS ARE REQUIRED TO USE THE SAME BIKE FOR BOTH HILL CLIMB AND GRAVEL ENDURO. WE ALLOW A WHEEL AND TYRE SWAP.

The Dukes Kids "Mini Enduro" gives children the chance to compete in an Enduro, in the same style as the adults, on flowing riverside trails and forest singletrack. They will use the same timing equipment to add to the experience. Despite the competitive stages, the emphasis of this event will be completion.

Included in the Dukes Weekender Entry is:

  • Saturday afternoon gravel Hillclimb
  • Sunday 70km Gravel Enduro
  • 6 timed stages on Sunday
  • Electronic timing and instant results upon completing the event
  • Timing chips, printed overall time and stage breakdowns will be provided
  • Free parking
  • Emergency support

Included in the Dukes Kid's Mini Enduro entry -

  • Saturday Mini Gravel Enduro
  • Minimum of 4 electronically timed stages
  • Timing chips, printed overall time and stage breakdowns will be provided
  • Free parking
  • Emergency support

You will automatically be allocated a place in your age and gender matched category ranging from:

Senior: Must be 18+ on the date of the race

Veteran: Must be 40+ on the date of the race

Grand Veteran: Must be 50+ on the date of the race

Junior: Must be 14+ on the date of the race (riders aged 14 are eligible to enter this event with their parent / guardians approval)

Dukes Kid's Mini Enduro: Must be 8+ on the date of the race. Riders will be allocated a category based on age on the day separated by 2 yearly intervals. Riders aged 14 are also eligible to ride in this event if more appropriate. It is down to the child and their parent's/guardian's discretion to agree which event would be most suitable.

The Adaptive Recumbent category is a new category to encourage adapted cycle riders to get involved. We have always said any off road bike is suitable for the amazing trails of Gravelfoyle and we stand by this. As this is the first year we have opened to this category, we will be offering just an open category, hence the reduced entry price. We will be requesting feedback from riders as a way to build an even better and inclusive route for our next events. We encourage adaptive cycle riders to bring an accompanying rider if required for health reasons (free of charge, although of course they can enter the event too if they wish to be timed).

PLEASE NOTE: ALL MINI ENDURO RIDERS AND JUNIOR RIDERS IN THE FULL DUKES EVENT MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY, AND SIGNED ON BY A PARENT OR GUARDIAN  IF THEY ARE AGED UNDER 17 ON THE DAY OF THE RACE. PARENTS AND/OR GUARDIANS ARE NOT REQUIRED TO RACE THE TIMED STAGES. HOWEVER FOLLOWING THE TIMED STAGES PARENTS AND/OR GUARDIANS MUST RE-GROUP WITH THE MINI ENDURO RIDERS OR THE JUNIOR RIDERS IN THEIR CARE.

PLEASE NOTE: IN THE ADULT EVENTS, IF THERE ARE LESS THAN 5 RIDERS IN A CATEGORY THE CATEGORY WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY COMBINED WITH THE CLOSEST AGE CATEGORY.
