About the Trail:
Come and join us on this epic virtual journey through some of the most beautiful countryside in the UK. The race route follows Isaac’s Tea Trail, a 37-mile loop from Allendale Town via Nenthead, Alston, and Ninebanks before returning to Allendale Town. The current course record is held by Cees van der Land who completed the route in 6 hours and 40 mins, can anyone beat that on the virtual route?

The route takes place in the North Pennine AONB, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and a UNESCO Global Geopark. The North Pennines is a stunning landscape of open heather moors and peatlands, attractive dales and hay meadows, tumbling upland rivers, wonderful woods, welcoming communities, intriguing imprints of a mining and industrial past, distinctive birds, animals and plants and much, much more.

Your entry and what is included

  • Each entry includes a donation to Isaac’s Tea Trail which goes towards the upkeep of the trail and its way markers etc.
  • £1 from each entry will be donated to our chosen charity.
  • Each participant will receive an Isaac’s Tea Trail guide, which describes the history of the trail, Isaac Holden and the region.
  • A packet of wildflower seeds to encourage pollinators to visit your garden.
  • Prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female solo/solo relay runners and 1st relay team.
  • £100 vouchers for 1st male and female solo/solo relay and £250 vouchers for the 1st team.

The Virtual Race:
Solo participants will be required to virtually complete the entire Isaac’s Tea Trail route on the weekend of 8th, 9th August all 37 miles and 5000 ft of climbing in a single run.

If you enter as a Solo relay you must complete the same distance and elevation but can do so over multiple runs on the 8th and 9th August.

Team Race  Your mixed team must each complete a section of the race route with the relevant vertical ascent over the weekend of the 8th and 9th August. You don’t need to complete the race route in order, but you must each complete a section.

It is up to your team to decide who completes which section, so play to your strengths!

The sections are as follows:
Allendale to Nenthead - 11.5 miles with 484m/1590 ft
Nenthead to Alston - 6 miles with 161m/528ft
Alston to Ninebanks - 12.5 miles with 472m/1551ft
Ninebanks to Allendale - 8 miles with 406m/1331ft

We have recently signed up to the North Pennine AONB responsible tourism charter, which broadly means that when planning our events full consideration is given to the environment, conservation issues, the local economies, local landowners and obviously any impact we may have on wildlife.

Adding your result:
Once you have completed each section (or the whole distance in one if you are entering as a solo) be sure to edit your entry to add the distance you travelled.  Your time will be shown on the results here.

Add your Strava and social media links:
Add you Strava account to the Update My Details screen so that it is displayed next to your name in the results.  You can also add you other social media accounts.
