To enter you must first Log In or Register your Details with SiEntries.
To get a pre-selection list entry just enter as normal. No payment is required at this stage as there is no guarantee of being offered a place. If the Event Organiser is able to offer you a place they will send you an email inviting you to enter. You will then be asked to come back to this site and make your payment to confirm your entry. For more details please see our Pre-selection List Help.
We are hoping that this current situation with Covid will be resolved by April and that the Calderdale Hike will go ahead as planned. We will make a final decision by the end of February 2021.
On this basis, rather than open up the entry list as normal, we are opening up a pre-selection entry list, where you can enter as normal but no payment will be taken at this stage. This will ensure that we have sufficient interest to consider holding the event, allow us to communicate easily with those on the pre-selection list and keep you all fully informed of the plans.
Should we then confirm that we will open up entries, which we expect to be either 1st March 2021, or sooner if conditions become more favourable, we can use the pre-selection list to contact you to confirm your entry and collect your entry fee.
This will avoid the need to take payments now and avoid the need for refunds later, should the event have to be cancelled, which will be a time-consuming process and incur bank charges and fees.
Any questions then please let us know.
Take care and please look after yourselves and others.
Set in the beautiful high Pennine valleys of Calderdale, the routes run over tracks across the surrounding moors with stunning views of the area. There are, however, some steep ascents and descents as the route takes you from moor top to moor top.
The event, run every year since 1979, raises money for 24th St Paul's Scouts and the work we do with young people of this town. The long route of 36 miles involves some 6200 feet of ascent, whilst the short route of 26 miles has 3200 feet of ascent and the very short 16 mile route has 2800 feet of ascent. Please see the event website for details.
The routes start and finish at Sowerby Cricket Club, St Peter´s Avenue, Sowerby, HX6 1DF, SE045232 ("South Pennines" Map). This is the Hike HQ.
As some of the terrain is harsh, the organizing committee recommends that navigation skills are required, especially if the weather is inclement.
