If you're looking for some real excitement, some really technical ground and some really technical hands on rock experience during a race then look no further, we have it all in the Pinnacle Ridge Extreme race for 2021. This short, but exceedingly hard race packs a massive punch, weaving its way around the Helvellyn Massif taking in some of the best lines, best scrambles and best descents... what are you waiting for?
Due to be a classic 'LDST' technical race, the Pinnacle Ridge Extreme is what you've been looking for if you love climbing as much as you love running.
Hard, pure and extreme. Climbing skills are requisite to gain a place.
Entry requirements and vetting process
You must be at least 19 years old on race day to enter Pinnacle Ridge Extreme.
Enter below where you will be asked to detail your relevant experience of mountain running, race and scrambling experience for the Race Director’s to review. You must be able to demonstrate:
- Completion of several named mountain races or mountain runs within the past 5 years, of 18 miles/30km or more, and of similar severity to Pinnacle Ridge Extreme. In the UK, this may include Ennerdale Horseshoe, Keswick Mountain Festival 50km, V3K, Glencoe Skyline, Lakes in a Day, Tour de Helvellyn;
- Significant mountain experience, allowing runners who haven't completed any races in the last 5 years a chance to take part . We will consider all mountain challenges such as the Lakeland Classic Rock Round, other enchainments, Dennis Rankin Round, Bob Graham Round, Ramsay Round, Paddy Buckley Round and more. If you are unsure, please email us at enquiries@mountainrun.co.uk before putting in your pre-race entry.
- Significant rock climbing experience. This could include high grade solo scrambling (2/3), low grade to high grade rock climbing (leader experience necessary), bouldering or winter climbing. THIS IS A COMPLETE REQUIREMENT TO GAIN AN ENTRY, no climbing experience, NO RACE.
No payment will be taken at this stage. We will review and respond to your entry application as soon as possible: usually within 96 hours.
- If your application is successful, you will be redirected to SI Entries to complete your application and make payment to confirm your place.
- If your application is unsuccessful, we may offer suggestions on how to gain the additional experience required for a successful entry application.
Please note that the Race Director will have the final decision on whether to allow any aspirant competitor to race. Any competitor found to have deliberately misled the Race Director will be expelled from the race and all future associated races.
