Event Organiser

It is a pleasure to announce that Lakeland Group will be hosting a brand-new Spring in Lakeland 50 on April 17-18 2021.

The event will be based in the village of Staveley, between Kendal & Windermere, and explores the beautiful and little walked South East corner of the Lake District. The format will be three loops from the Staveley HQ, so you will have options of 18, 34 or 50 miles depending on how many loops you walk (1-3).

LOOP 1 follows the Dales Way to the outskirts of Windermere to join the tourists on an ascent of Orrest Head. A steady climb to near 1500 feet up the Gardale Pass reveals the Far Eastern Fells in all their glory and leads to the lovely quiet valley of Kentmere and back to Staveley.

LOOP 2 climbs Potter Fell for views as far as the 40 miles to Blackpool Tower on a clear day and into the even lovelier and quieter Longsleddale valley, where you will be outnumbered by new born lambs in April.

LOOP 3 goes South to Kendal via the impressive limestone escarpment of Scout Scar, with an easy return for tired legs along the River Kent.

Free off-road parking, a shower (just one!) and rest facilities at the end of the event are on offer. Staveley itself has much to offer, not least Hawkshead Brewery, and is very well served by public transport.

LDWA membership: Please note that entries will initially be open to LDWA members only. Entries will be opened to non-members on 1st December.
